Choosing a cochlear implant for your child is a big decision. With so much information available, comparing it side-by-side just makes sense.

Each of the three cochlear implant manufacturers that are marketed in the U.S. produce devices for children. But knowing which one is right for your child may seem like a difficult decision. You can get information about cochlear implants from a variety of sources, including your audiologist, nearby schools, a teacher of the deaf, or from manufacturer websites. Wading through all that information can be overwhelming, and as a parent, you want to feel confident making this decision for your child.

When choosing a cochlear implant for your child, you'll want to compare the features of each device available to pick the one you think will be best for your child. This can be a difficult thing to do when each manufacturer highlights a different feature. One might say their device has the best battery life, another might say their device is the smallest, and the third might say theirs has the best water resistant accessories. Each company is proud of the devices they have created, but if each one boasts a particular feature, it can be hard to see how they compare in other areas.

The parent-friendly comparison chart available on this site was created to provide unbiased information and easy-to-understand explanations regarding the most current cochlear implant technology. The hope is that the chart will clarify your questions and help you make a confident decision.
